I am from the Philippines, a writer in my own mother tongue and a teacher. As ideas occur to me anytime, I had to carry a gadget which I could use handily. I had owned some Pocket PCs, Dells and HP iPAQs, in the past, I bought them online in eBay and traded them also in there.

Then, recently, I was fascinated by a Palm LifeDrive posted in eBay. I bought it and when it arrived, I found out that it was barely usable, the LifeDrive would freeze after a few minutes of launching an application. I read some technical stuff online and then I began to suspect that the Hitachi MicroDrive used in the LifeDrive is the culprit.

I contacted the eBay seller, and he said he was not aware of the problem. I considered returning the item for replacement but then I thought that the replacement might have or might develop the same annoyance as with that of the unit I have.

So, I searched online for a possible remedy, and I came across literature describing and explaining how to replace the Micro Drive with a CF card. I searched again for CF cards for Life Drive and I came across the post on eBay about Palm PDA repair.

I contacted Chris right then and he responded that I communicate directly, and that\'s what happened. I thought, he requires me to send the unit to him, but to my surprise, he just gave the simple direction of replacing the MicroDrive with one of their pre-formatted CF card which he will send to me upon paying the amount set.

He sent me the invoice, I paid online, and after some days (I was not bored waiting), the packet containing my CF card arrived! Initially, I contacted an electronic repairman to install the CF card but in the evening of its arrival, I was very lucky to find among my tools a torx screwdriver of the right size and I opened my LifeDrive, disconnected the battery, removed the MicroDrive and inserted the CF card. When I reconnected the battery while the back of the LD is still open, the device booted on, and since then it booted on properly and launched programs until I would tire out of them.

So, what more could I say? Chris Short\'s panacea works like magic. Someday, I would write a short story with a main character that does repair PDA\'s or anything electronic. And Chris would be the model. Thanks, again, Chris!
