Garmin Zumo 450 & 550 Repair Service

This is the Garmin Zumo 450 and 550 base repair, it includes the parts and services selected below(check boxes), return shipping options will be given near the end of the checkout process. In most cases the unit will repaired and sent back the next business day after receiving it. With the RUSH option every effort will be made to send the GPS back the same day as receiving it, these are top-priority upon receipt.(300321, 300319)

NOTE: If your internal backup battery has not been changed it should be replaced at the same time as another repair, even if it appears to be working as the typical battery life is typically three or four years.

NOTE: Because of circumstances out of our control we are not able to guarantee a watertight seal of the unit after repair.  All seals will be properly installed and every attempt will be made to maintain a water tight seal.

Description of some of the features and options

• Base Charge
  This is the charge that covers the base part of the repair, evaluating the unit, taking it a part and other activities to make the repairs below.
• Digitizer/Touchscreen
  • A new digitizer is needed if one or more of the following conditions are experienced; (1)the GPS does not register taps on the screen, (2)locations on the screen register erratically and/or sporadic taps, (3)location where you tap is registered somewhere else on the screen - for example 1/8 up from tapped area, (4)during the screen calibration either the GPS does not see your taps or never completes the calibration process, (6)if your have digitizer/top glass is cracked.
• LCD - Liquid Crystal Display
  • You are able to turn the unit on and off but either there is no display(white screen), the display is washed out in some or all places, or you can see a crack anywhere on the screen. For an example of a bad LCD click HERE.
• Internal Backup Battery
  • The internal battery backup is used to save previous satellite data in volatile memory each time the unit is turned off. This helps decrease the TTFF, Time to first fix. The time it takes, after power-on, to accurately compute your position and time using at least 4 satellites. If you are in the same location, the satellites have not moved much and your internal backup battery is good then the lock will take place in about 1 second. If the backup battery is bad then the lock is likely to take more than a minute or never depending on your current signal strength and condition of the backup battery. If your internal backup battery has not been changed it should be replaced at the same time as another repair, even if it appears to be working as the typical battery life is typically three or four years.
• Rubber Buttons
  • If one or more of the buttons are missing, cracked around the edge or lose we will replace the problem buttons and back-fill  the buttons with a high quality urethane rubber. See the process HERE.
• SDS - Sudden Death Syndrome
  • If your GPS unit is suffering from this condition it will not turn on even after charging or replacing the battery - it appears completely dead.
• Flash - internal memory upgrade
  • This will add more room for maps etc., the standard internal Flash memory is 1.2GB and you are only able to load Canada and the bordering states. The available upgrades are 2.2GB(Lower 49 East or West), 3GB(Lower 49), and 4GB(US and Canada)
• PIN/Password Removal
  • If you have forgotten you PIN/Password we can recover this for you and/or remove the PIN/Password with no lost of user data.
